Trent & Peak Archaeology / The University of Nottingham Made with Xara Web Designer The Park Tunnel   The Park Tunnel is 8 x 8 metres high and 75 metres long.  It was opened in 1855 to enable direct access from Derby Road in to the Park estate.  Designed to allow coach-and-fours to pass inside, the tunnel was abandoned before its completion due to the construction of more convenient roads leading in to the park. The tunnel is accessed by a footpath that runs from Derby Road through to Tunnel Road in the Park.
